Children’s Ministries – Age 4 Through Sixth Grade

Sunday school teaches children over 150 stories from the Bible over a period of four years during Bible class from 9:15 am to 10:15 am. Projects, crafts, and memorization of Bible passages are also part of the curriculum. Children also learn songs that they sing during the church service.

Teen Ministry

Each Sunday morning the teen group meets from 9:15 am to 10:15 am for topical discussions. These discussions use video games, and include moral and social issues as well as books of the Bible. The group also enjoys social outings and recreational activities.

Confirmation

Confirmation instruction is offered to all seventh and eighth graders who desire to learn the teachings of the Bible.  The two-year course uses Martin Luther’s Small Catechism, specifically designed for young people.  New classes begin in the fall and are open to all.  Following confirmation instruction, a long-standing tradition in the Lutheran church is a public examination of the confirmands, followed by the Rite of Confirmation in a Sunday morning worship service. This Rite gives the confirmands the opportunity to confess their faith and be welcomed into communicant membership of the Evangelical Lutheran Church.  It is a special event for all as it means that the confirmands have been thoroughly instructed in the truths of God’s precious Word.

Sunday Morning Bible Class

Sunday morning Bible class for adults is conducted from 9:15 am to 10:15 am.  The studies include books of the Bible, doctrine, topic, Lutheran confessions, etc.

Foundations of Our Faith

11 weeks for two hours each week provides instruction in the 12 most important teachings of the Bible.  Christians new to the faith and long-time members of the church alike enjoy the relaxed atmosphere where any question of the Bible may be asked and the most important answers about life, death, and eternity are discussed.  One of the most popular Bible studies that we offer at Mighty Fortress Church is “Foundations of Our Faith.”

The first lesson asks questions like: “Is there a God?”  “How can we know?”  “What is He like?”  Come once just to see what it is like, or come to all 11 sessions; there is no obligation to continue in the class or to join the church.  Completion of the course, however, will prepare individuals for church membership if they so desire.  Growing in your knowledge of the Bible is the very best thing you can do for yourself and your family.  Childcare is provided upon request, along with coffee and tea.  Visit our Events Page for class schedule or contact the church office at (770) 943-0330 for more information.
