Pastor Paul and Rebecca Horn
Pastor Horn was born August 24, 1978, in Beatrice, Nebraska, to Fritz and Katherine Horn. He became a child of God through Holy Baptism on September 3,1978, at Christ Lutheran Church in Beatrice, Nebraska (Pastor Wietzke). Pastor Horn has two younger sisters, Rochelle and Sarah. Pastor Horn’s parents moved the family to Rhinelander, Wisconsin, where he attended grade school at Zion Lutheran School. In 1991 his father accepted a divine call to serve as Minister of Discipleship at Grace Lutheran Church, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Pastor finished his eighth grade year at Zion Lutheran School in South Milwaukee and Good Shepherd Lutheran School in West Allis. Pastor was confirmed in the Christian faith at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in West Allis by Pastor Ralph Scharf. He attended Wisconsin Lutheran High School in Milwaukee, which he graduated from in 1996. He then studied at Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minnesota, for four years and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2000. Pastor then enrolled in Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in Mequon, Wisconsin. He received the Master of Divinity degree from the Seminary in 2004.
During his time at Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary, Pastor Horn served a full year as a vicar (intern) at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Salt Lake City, Utah, under the supervision of his bishop, Pastor Michael Quandt. Like all Wisconsin Synod pastors, Pastor Horn received a thorough education in the individual books of the Bible, the languages of the Church (Hebrew, Greek, German, and Latin), homiletics (preaching), dogmatics (doctrine), education (teaching), symbolics (confessions), and pastoral counseling. Pastor Horn’s great-grandfather Paul E. Horn graduated from the Seminary in 1911, and his grandfather Gerhard Horn graduated in 1945.
Pastor Horn was married to Rebecca Hermanson of New Ulm, Minnesota, on June 10, 2001. They have five children: Ethan, Jason, Sophia, Calliope, and Henry. Rebecca graduated from Martin Luther College in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. She taught at Lutheran elementary schools in Hopkins/Wayland, Michigan, and in Cudahy, Wisconsin. Rebecca currently works in the Paulding County School District and teaches violin and viola lessons.
Upon graduation from the Seminary, Pastor Horn was assigned to Faith Lutheran Church in Radcliff, Kentucky. He was installed and ordained on July 18, 2004. He was installed as Pastor of Mighty Fortress on March 16, 2014. He currently serves as the chairman for WELS Military Services Committee.
